OISTAT is organizing a workshop in 18^th century Italien scene painting with Ingmar Bergman’s painter.

 

As model we will use scenery, wings, from the Drottningholms Slottsteater, created in the latter half of the 18^th century. By copying some of these wings we will learn about old techniques and materials used at the time. We will end with looking at the wings being mounted on frames and seeing the scenery lit by candlelight on the stage of Confidencen Palace Theatre. The workshop also includes a study visit to the Drottningholms Slottsteater.

 

Anna-Lena Hansen, scene painter, started at the Royal Opera House, Stockholm, in 1965. She has since then painted several theatre, film and TV-productions. Ingmar Bergman’s film The Magic Flute, Phantom of the Opera and Billie August’s movie The Best Intentions are some of them. She also painted scenery for the Opera di Roma, Rome, and Comédie-Française, Paris.

19:00 – 21:00 Introduction to 18^th century stage painting

 

Monday 30.5 – Wednesday 1.6

All days 09:00 – 18:00 Workshops including painting techniques, preparation of colors/paint, preparation of canvas, brushes and tools, etc

 

Thursday 2.6

09:00 – 12:00 Mounting canvas on frames, methods and techniques.

13:00 – 16:00 Study visit: Drottningholm Court theatre and painting techniques of scenery. In co-operation with the Drottningholms Slottsteater.

 

Participant fee:

Workshop fee 6400 SEK

Workshop fee/ students 3000 SEK

 

Workshop fee will include:

29.5. Theory class – the basics in historical stage paining

30.5 - 1.6 Workshop – stage painting. Four days tutoring, including colors and canvas.

2.6 Workshop - mounting canvas. Study visit Drottningholms Slottsteater. Transportation to venue by local transport.

 

More detailed information will be provided in the letter confirming participation.

 

Food, transportation and accommodation are not included in the fee.

 

For those also wanting to participate in the Conference by Candlelight 3 - 5.6 2022, please note that you need to apply to workshop and conference at the same time. The conference fee is paid additionally.
