Conference by Candlelight in Stockholm

Workshops before conference 1, 2 or 4 days between 

An opportunity to consider the qualities, uses and experiences of candlelit performance and its relevance to 21st century theatre. How can we reliably recreate 18th century stage lighting in a time of rapid development of new environmentally friendly and sustainable  technology?

Day 1:
 
9:00 Bus from hotel to Drottningholms Slottsteater, Ekerö
 
9:30 - 16:00 Presentations on the stage of Drottningholms Slottsteater
On the program:
What is the world considereing as historic light today?
The Drottningholm experience - reconstruction of historic light in 1999.
The Eye and its Perception of Light and Colours
Visit Drottningholm! Join a guided tour of the theatre
 
Conference programme will include refreshment breaks during the day, and a mingle in the Dejeunersalongen after the end of the lecture program
 
17:00 Boat or bus to Stockholm
  
19.00. Dinner hosted by City of Stockholm in City Hall
 
Day 2: 
Bus from hotel to Confidencen, Ulriksdals slottsteater, Solna
 
9:30 - 17:30 Presentations on the stage of Confidencen, Ulriksdals slottsteater
On the program:
The Confidencen experience - working with candles
The Sam Wannamaker experience – first experience performing in candlelight
A stage director’s approach to historic light – demonstrations and discussions with the workshop leaders on sets, costume, make-up and lighting
 
Conference programme will include refreshment breaks during the day
 
18:00 Conference dinner
 
Approx. 20:00 Bus to hotel 
 
Day 3:
Study visit to Gripsholm Palace morning and early afternoon
 
End of conference
 
Conference fees including transportation to venues day 1, 2, and 3; lunch and dinner day 1 and day 2, all talks and lectures. No refreshments day 3 during the outing to Gripsholm.
